MT (METAL STUDS)

Recently developed by iGrip Industries Inc, the MT studs for steel-tracked excavators and bulldozers are designed for year-round use. They are suitable for both forestry and construction machinery. The advantage of this stud is that it can be removed when needed.

ADVANTAGES

Revolutionary stud for metal tracks, excavators, forestry machinery, bulldozers, and even cranes. Made with high-quality metal and featuring tungsten carbide, this stud is extremely durable. It fits any metal track, is very long-lasting, easy to install and remove, and can be easily deployed on-site. It ensures safety and increases stability, resulting in increased productivity. There is no weight limit for the equipment on which it can be used.

HOW TO INSTALL iGRiP MT MODEL STUDS

STEP 1, MT STUD INSTALLATION

The MT model is a removable stud designed for the steel shoes of tracked equipment, including excavators, forestry machines, and bulldozers. Made of high-strength steel, it features a tungsten carbide tip integrated into its head to improve traction and durability.

The fastening system includes a self-locking positioning block designed to prevent the stud from rotating. It allows for installation without welding and makes it easier to remove the studs once the job is complete.

BEFORE INSTALLATION:

  1. Identify the type of track shoe: single, double, or triple grouser.

  2. Measure the thickness, width, and height of the track shoe to determine the appropriate configuration.

  3. Select the appropriate staggered installation pattern and the tools required to drill holes in the steel tracks.

  4. Always wear the appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).

The guide also presents oxy-fuel cutting and plasma cutting as alternative methods. These operations must be performed by qualified personnel in accordance with applicable safety procedures and specifications.

STUD INSTALLATION:

  1. Position the appropriate spacer or locking block, if required by the configuration.

  2. Insert the MT stud into the prepared hole.

  3. Install and tighten the fastening components to the specified torque for the model concerned.

For triple-grouser track shoes that allow installation without a spacer block, follow the specific procedure illustrated in the iGrip guide available in the DOCUMENTS section. Do not automatically use this method for other configurations.

Tightening torques listed in the guide:

  • 14 mm thread: 80 lb-ft.

  • 3/4-inch NF thread: 280 lb-ft.

  • 7/8-inch NF thread: 450 lb-ft.

These values must be verified against the specific stud model and fastening components being used before installation.

STEP 2, MT STUD FUNCTION, USE AND REMOVAL

The MT stud is designed to improve traction on equipment fitted with steel tracks. Its conical tungsten carbide tip promotes ground penetration, while its profile helps provide grip on various surfaces.

The self-locking positioning block is designed to prevent the stud from rotating during operation. The mechanical fastening system allows the studs to be removed without cutting them off or performing welding work.

  • Improved traction and ground penetration.

  • Robust construction designed for demanding applications.

  • Easier installation and removal.

  • No welding required for the fastening method described.

  • Configurations adaptable to different types of track shoes.

  • Potential reduction in downtime and operating costs.

When the studs are no longer needed, they can be removed by unscrewing them with the appropriate tool. Follow all safety instructions and inspect the studs, positioning blocks, and fastening components before reusing them.

CUSTOMER RESPONSE GUIDELINES

When responding to a customer regarding the MT model:

  • Explain that the MT is designed for the steel shoes of tracked equipment, not tires.

  • Ask for the type of equipment and track shoe configuration (single, double, or triple grouser) when this information is needed.

  • Explain the purpose of the positioning block: to prevent the stud from rotating.

  • Clarify that the installation method described uses mechanical fastening and does not require welding.

  • For drilling questions, provide tool recommendations, dimensions, and speeds only when they are appropriate for the customer's specific configuration.

  • For tightening torque questions, verify the thread diameter and thread type before providing a value.

  • Never assume that all track shoes use the same block, hole diameter, or installation pattern.

  • If a dimension, procedure, or compatibility detail cannot be confirmed from the available documentation, ask for clarification or recommend contacting iGrip Industries.

  • For any drilling, oxy-fuel cutting, or plasma cutting operation, emphasize the importance of PPE and the use of qualified personnel.

To help a customer select the correct model, collect the machine type, track shoe type, dimensions, and operating conditions as needed. Use this information to guide the customer without inventing compatibility claims or technical specifications.
